PES 2016: New Cover Star + Champions League Announcement

Neymar has officially been announced as the new cover star for PES 2016. Here is what Neymar had to say:

“This is a real honour for me to be cover star for PES 2016. The series has long been praised for its sheer level of control and utter realism and I am delighted to be working with such a talented team as Konami. I am fascinated by the huge amount of work involved in putting together the game and ensuring the world’s top players look and play just like the real things, and cannot wait to see myself in action as soon as possible.”

Erik Bladinieres, Konamis European Brand Director of Football had this to add:

“Neymar Jr is a player that perfectly fits the PES brand, and what we want to achieve. His unique qualities and the ability to surprise goes hand in hand with the gameplay experience in PES 2016. In our anniversary year we want to celebrate the past, while look forward to the exciting future of the brand. We’ll do this with Neymar Jr leading our campaign.”

How for some even bigger news, after the many rumours "PES has lost Champions League" "FIFA have signed Champions League" Konami put all those incorrect statements to bed by announcing a new 3 year deal with  UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.

Here is there press release:

"KONAMI and UEFA has enjoyed a close relationship since the original agreement was signed in 2009 and the new partnership will allow KONAMI to use all iconography and presentation elements associated with the competitions exclusively within the PES series. The UEFA Champions League is Europe’s greatest club football competition and will be fully featured in all versions of the game for the next three years. All versions of the game will also feature official logos for the competitions across its packaging.

The agreement allows KONAMI to feature both the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League club competitions within its many options, with both featured as individual modes or within the larger season overview upon qualification – with the UEFA Super Cup featured within the iconic Master League mode. The PES series is widely regarded as the most realistic football simulation available, with its most recent PES 2015 iteration winning awards such as IGN’s ‘Sports Game of the Year 2014’ and ‘Best Sports Game 2014’ at Europe’s prestige gamescom exhibition."
