New DLC Out 27th December

Konami have today announced the latest DLC Data Pack will be available for Winning Eleven 2012 on 27th December. At the moment we are unsure if it will be the same date for PES 2012 but we will update you as soon as we know more. The update consists of new boots and new balls. PES 2012 Patch 1.03 Released Today

Today will see the release of the PES 2012 latest patch (1.03) and last of the year. The patch will be released today world wide so keep checking your PSN and Live through out the day.

The updates for the latest patch are as follows:

- To improve and respond to the goalie long shot.

- Skill Card “Speed Star” to correct the effect. (The effect was too strong to make adjustments).

- Change the search criteria for on-line mode opponent. (“Free Match” to “search pass level” change)

- Modify the behaviour conditions in online mode to stop certain circumstances.

- As you make adjustments to play better – Various modes.

PES 2012 Patch 1.03 In December

Konami have today confirmed that patch 1.03 will be released in December for PES 2012 on the PS3,Xbox 360 and PC.

We are really been looked after this year by the team in Japan with regards to patchs.

"Hello PES community, just a quick email/post to inform you about the upcoming update that we are planning to apply for PES 2012 on PlayStation3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC versions.

As a result of continuous feedback from our users we’ve once again worked on certain improvements to the performance of goalkeepers, this time stopping balls from long-distance shots.

We've also added the option to search for opponents based on their pass support settings, which will replace Friendly Match or Player Match (depending on version) in Quick Match mode. The Speed Star skill card will also be adjusted to improve realism.

We have also been able to identify some minor issues which occur on very specific occasions. Our commitment is to continue to deliver the best football experience to all our fans, so the next patch will also fix the following:

* Issues with one or more players given a red card in a match, but 11 players available after loading formation

* In the myPES application, we have corrected the situation where a draw result is given after win/lose on the penalties

* Occasionally meaningless numbers were appearing when accessing the Community menu from the Community Card list

* Formation data in the Formation settings on the Game Plan screen can only be saved from the P1 controller

* Game data can be saved/loaded for both sides if you exit the Data Management menu while your opponent is saving/loading the game data and then enter the Data Management menu again on the Game Plan screen

* Also, some situations where the game was hanging out or freezing have been solved. Included those on the Online, Become a Legend and Edition modes, and while selecting some Game Plan combinations.

Konami have today release new information regarding the up coming release of PES 2012 3D for the 3DS.

This press release was sent to us in Spanish and has been translated using Google Translator so sorry for any mistakes.

PES 2012 Patch 1.02 Released

Konami have today released the latest patch for PES 2012 on the PC, PS3 and XBox 360.

Announced by Jon Murphy this morning on Twitter the patch aims to improve Goalkeepers, penalties, free-kicks and more. Also it has been confirmed that the update will fix the Runbug on the Xbox 360 version.

Patch Confirmed For November

Konami have confirmed that the latest patch for PES 2012 (1.02) will be released in November. At the moment there is no date set for the release.

"Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has outlined the content for a planned update for PES 2012.

Due for release mid-November, the free download is designed to enhance the playing experience for PlayStation(R)3, Xbox 360(R) and Windows PC users.

It adds improved goalkeeper performance, removes the stuttering effect during running, makes small adjustments to the penalty and free-kick systems, and fixes some small bugs that have been reported.

Changes have also been made to the structure of the Game Plan menu, making them easier to navigate and use.

The update is in response to user feedback, and reaffirms KONAMI's commitment to improving PES 2012."

360 Run Bug Set To Be Fixed

As you can see from the header image Jon Murphy has confirmed there will be a fix to the issue that many XBox users are having.

The stuttering run bug was present in the 360 demo and many had hoped it would be ironed out by the time it came to release but it wasn't. Hopefully the start of November will see the back of this issue.

Did you enjoy PES 2011 3D? Well you are in for a treat this year. Konami have released details on the upcoming release for the Nintendo 3DS.

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has outlined its plans for PES 2012 3D, which will include full support to allow Nintendo 3DS™ users to play other users online.

PES 2012 3D will offer unrivalled realism, and allow users exclusive entry into its recreation of the UEFA Champions League™ tournament, and also allows users to experience the thrills of South America’s high-intensity Copa Libertadores league. Full control is offered over the game, with every pass, through ball, tackle and shot left to the player, and accessible via either the Circle Pad and buttons, or via a new Touch Screen control system where players use the Nintendo 3DS stylus to move their players.

PES 2012 3D then focuses on the skills on show via a number of new, intelligent camera views that pan and swoop to cover the on-pitch action and show off the 3D powers of the Nintendo system, players are also invited to hone their skills in a number of game modes.

The eternally popular Master League option made famous by previous home format versions of PES is now a vital part of PES 2012 3D, and allows users to shape and develop a team of unknowns into a dynamic football force. Similarly, the game’s new Become a Legend option takes a more personal look at the game, charging the player with the progression of one player trying to establish themselves as a world-class talent.

Seabass Talks PES 2013

In a recent interview with UOL Jogos posted by Clubedopes, Seabass spoke about PES 2013 and how it will be a very different game. PES 2012 has only just been released in many countries and some are still waiting for the release but that hasn't stopped Seabass giving us a little teaser about PES 2013.

UOL Jogos: How do you see now the duel between "Pro Evolution Soccer" and "FIFA"?

Seabass: For me, "Pro Evolution Soccer" is a little ahead of "FIFA". It is therefore important to continue implementing new and different things. To be honest, we left that aside and we are very sorry.

UOL Jogos: For the Brazilians, it makes a lot remains to be seen more licensed national teams and tournaments. What can we expect for the future?

Seabass: It must be admitted that EA Sports has done a much better job than ours in relation to licenses. We know we need to get more licenses, we have the Copa Libertadores, but we can not be satisfied and we will continue looking for more.

UOL Jogos: What about handhelds? We can expect versions of "Pro Evolution Soccer" developed specifically for the 3DS or Vita?

Seabass: I must admit that in recent years focused most of our efforts in the game on consoles, but in the future we would like to create something specific to the Vita and 3DS, taking advantage of the peculiarities of each one. Laptops have never been our forte, but we want to change that.

UOL Jogos: Have you played "FIFA 12? What do you think?

Seabass: I played "FIFA 12" at GamesCom [event held in August in Germany] and the game seemed very explores certain aspects of modern football as the positioning. It was something we tried to do, but we decided to implement the concepts of positioning Artificial Intelligence causes many problems for the player. That's why we decided not to implement something similar and follow a different path.

UOL Jogos: Why the choice of Neymar for the cover of "Pro Evolution Soccer 2012"?

Seabass: Well, actually my boss likes the Neymar then it was easy to put on the cover of the game [laughs]. But above all, we wanted to make clear how much we are interested in the Latin America, so the choice of Neymar on the cover.

UOL Jogos: What would you like to see the next generation of consoles and how to leverage it in "Pro Evolution Soccer "?

Seabass: We are very dependent on the joystick. In this context I would like to see something that lets you perform more tricks and commands a higher sensitivity. In a way, the PS2 was for us a great console but the PS3 was not so good. It was not the fault of the game, but because at first we could not explore right away the potential of the PS3. In the last year and now, finally, we could actually take advantage of the hardware. So the next game would also like to enjoy it right away.

UOL Jogos: If you could choose a different genre of game in which to work, what would it be?

Seabass: I'm a hardcore gamer, these same fans. So if I were given the opportunity to create something different I would do an FPS.

Konami have sent over a press release detailing the release day update due on Thursday this week to co inside with the European release.

"The highly anticipated new installment of the football simulation series from Konami, PES 2012, will come to PlayStation ® 3, Xbox 360 ® and Windows PC this Thursday September 29.

As the date gets closer, Konami has announced that users can add a number of extra features to the title via a free download of content. MSE application will be present in beta, allowing users to create an account and share it through the results with their Facebook friends. In October, the application will have all the characteristics, statistical systems, achievements and rewards, and the ability to create groups of public and private players. Additionally, the update will adjust parameters ActiveAI artificial intelligence system, as well as reinforce the behavior of the porters, based on feedback received from users in recent weeks.

Today has been all about the new PES cover star Ronaldo at Konami. Today the PES team released some images from a photo shoot with Ronaldo with the follow statement from the man himself

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has revealed the packshot for its forthcoming PES 2012 title. The game, which is released September 28th/October 14th for PlayStation®3, Xbox 360® and Windows PC, features new cover star Cristiano Ronaldo and personifies the many advances the game offers.

The cover shows the Real Madrid maestro on the ball in an image that embodies the many advances and options that are central to PES 2012: total control both on and off the ball. PES 2012 gives the user more control than any other football title, with all-new AI elements and off-the-ball control creating a game where the user can move players into dangerous areas during set pieces, or control second player to create space or make runs using the new Teammate Control system.

Similarly, at the heart of PES 2012 is the Active AI system where players will drop into space, draw defenders out of position, and make diagonal runs as in real matches. This creates a game that flows and moves just like a top-level game, and also create the defence-splitting passes and glorious attacks that has elevated Cristiano Ronaldo to the top of his game.

PS3 Demo Out NOW - Xbox Update

The demo is now available to download from the UK PSN. At the moment you will need to use the search function to find it. Just simply search for Pro Evolution Soccer and will will be listed. The demo is 1393Mb (1.39Gb) Go on and enjoy.

Xbox 360 users this is where you get the bad news I am afraid. We do not have a full explanation to the reason but the demo for Xbox has been delayed and due to be released sometime in September. We are not sure who the fault lies with at the moment but due to Konami still releasing the demo on Playstation and PC it seems that Microsoft may be to blame. We shall update you on the revised release date when we get it.

Last week Konami announced that we would get the PES 2012 demo this week and today Konami released a press release detailing the demo and what we can expect to see.

PES 2012 Demo coming Wednesday. All formats. 10min match. 6 teams. WITH TRAINING CHALLENGE MODE.

There will be no commentary for the demo.

Demo stadiums are the San Siro and the Maracanã (named as the Estadio De Escorpiao). Weather and time options will be set at random. There will be 3 camera options to choose from - Wide, Long and Pitchside.

PES 2012: Two Demos Announced

KONAMI offers early taste of PES 2012 for fans

Konami DigitalEntertainment GmbH has announced it will release TWO playable demos for its eagerly awaited PES 2012 title. The demos will be available free for PlayStation®3, Xbox 360® and Windows PC, and will give PES fans a chance to experience the game early in its development cycle and prior to release.

The first demo will be released on August 24th and will be based on a preview build of the game. While there will be areas that are refined, KONAMI wants PES users to try out the game’s many new Teammate Control elements prior to launch and experience the realism that Active AI brings to PES 2012, and which have been singled out for extensive praise by the media. The demo will also showcase the individuality of the many teams in the game, and users will be able to pick from six teams and their playing styles – Manchester United, AC Milan, FC Porto, S.S.C Napoli, Santos FC, and C.A. Panarol – and pit them against each other in 10-minute matches. The demo will also showcase key Challenge Training elements, where fans can practice the new control systems to fully enjoy the game.

The first PES 2012 demo will not be truly representative of the final game, so KONAMI will issue a second free demo reflecting the final version’s feel and gameplay in mid-September for the same formats. This will also offer 10-minute matches, but with a different team roster of Tottenham Hotspur, FC Bayern Munich, FC Internazionale Milano, Rangers FC, Club America and Sport Club Internacional.

“We have spoken a lot about the new additions to PES 2012, and now we want users to see it for themselves,” explained Jon Murphy, European PES Team Leader. “By releasing a demo for preview purposes, we want people to get in early to try out the Teammate Control elements and to see for themselves how the Active AI works. This will then be followed by a second demo that offers different teams, and a closer approximation of what the final game will play like. We truly value the support and input of our user base – and these demos are so they can see how their help has aided the most ambitious PES to date.”.

Xbox360 Achievements have announced the new unlocked-able achievements and trophies available for Xbox 360 and PS3. There are a few addictions for the new mode Club Boss but also there seem to be a few missing like 10 Years Master League Service.

PES 2012 GamesCom Day 1

It is only day one of GamesCom and Konami have already stolen the show with there PES 2012 showing. What a day it has been for Konami and PES 2012, they held there conference this morning and announced new details on MyPES, the new cover star, Football Life and of course the release date of the FIRST yes that’s right the first of two demos coming out for PES2012.

I have put together this post so nothing is missed and lost in all the news coming out today and over the next few days. Below is a summary of PES 2012 at GamesCom Day One. But keep checking back throughout the day as if we get any updates this post will be updated.

First of all we learnt that the code that was being played on the show floor at GamesCom was at 80%.

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has revealed full details of its innovative myPES service, which offers players of PES 2012 the chance to upload scores and results to the Facebook social network site.

myPES has been designed and produced in collaboration with argonauten G2 and is a Facebook Application that emphasises the social elements of PES 2012 via connections with the PlayStation®3, Xbox 360® and Windows PC versions of PES 2012. It allows like-minded fans to get together through PES 2012, whether it be comparing various match stats, or setting up leagues and groups with friends on Facebook. Results from matches played both online and offline between two people can be uploaded by the user. The myPES App needs to be installed on Facebook and can be connected with the game via the Personal Data settings. An update available to download for PES 2012 users planned for the day of release will add this functionality to the game.

Players will receive rewards for their activities, with game-related bonuses on offer for specific goals or tasks being attained, while bonuses related to the use of the myPES App are also offered. Finally, there will be hidden bonuses, which will contain further special surprises.

“Social networks are a vital part of our lives - and PES is a game that is social in nature, creating debate and competition while getting people together,” commented Florian Stronk, European Director of Online and Social Media for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. “PES 2012 constantly surprises, and myPES is perfect for showing the sheer diversity of those that play it. The unique Badge system within the App will encourage people to play matches with different teams, experiment with tactics, and eventually make new friends from all over the globe.”

Konami have confirmed that we will be getting the first of two demo's of PES 2012 next week on both Xbox and PS3. The PC version is yet to be confirmed but should be released around the same time.

This year is a first as we will be getting two demo's instead of just one. Konami want everyone to play this amazing game as soon as possible so they are released a demo next week based around the preview code press have been released there very positive thoughts on. The second demo which is not yet dated will come after and will be based on the final retail version of the game.

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH will use gamescom to announce that the world’s most expensive player, Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo, is to be the face of PES 2012. The Galactico midfielder will appear on all packaging and marketing materials, with KONAMI also confirming release dates for the forthcoming PSP® (PlayStation®Portable), PlayStation®2 and Wii™ versions of the game.

A New Member Of PESKings

Let me introduce myself. My name is Nick. I will be a new member of this great team PESKings.

I am a huge PES fan and I have played PES since the ISS era (good times). Hopefully those good times will be back with this years PES 2012. I have always enjoyed all PES games in the PES series even those more frustrated games like PES 2008, 09 and 10. PES 2011 was a fresh start that hopefully will lead to make PES the king of football games again.

I live in the capital of Denmark, Copenhagen. I am a huge FC Copenhagen fan and they are also a very good team that made the round of 16 in Champions League last season and lost to Chelsea. I play Tennis in my free time were I sometimes play tournaments aswell. I mostly play PES, but a game like Top Spin 4 and Battlefield can sometimes find it's way to my PS3.

I will write some posts now and then, but that is not my main focus. I will use most of my time on something else that I will announce in the next couple days so stay tuned.

Konami Shows Of Winning Eleven 2012

Konami is preparing Japan for it's yearly awaited series Winning Eleven, with 12 small videos showing some moves of different players. Winning Eleven is just like Pro Evolution Soccer but with another name, even know some rumors are saying that the version always is better then PES. We let people judge on that.

After a day of lot's of impressions, we also managed to get some new info of PES 2012. We will try to give you a overview of today's news right here.

Portuguese League in PES 2012. Not fully licensed, but Konami have manged to grab the league in a similar way to EPL. So what that means is they have 3 licensed teams, being Benfica, Porto and Sporting Lisbon, while the rest have fake names and kits.
Superstar difficulty is in PES 2012. It's a level that is higher then Top Player. It's unlockable in PES Shop.

Konami have managed to get eight new licensed teams into PES 2012:

Genk (Belgium)
Standard Liège (Belgium)
Bayer Leverkusen (Germany)
Wisła Kraków (Poland)
Oţelul Galaţi (Romania)
CSKA Moscow (Russia)
FC Zürich (Switzerland)

But with new licensed teams coming in, we will also see teams leaving the PES series.

KONAMI dates ‘most ambitious and advanced football game ever’

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced it will unleash its eagerly-awaited PES 2012 title on October 14th for PlayStation®3, Xbox 360® and Windows PC, stating it is the most ambitious and advanced football experience ever.

PES 2012 goes further in giving the user total control than any other football title, offering AI innovations and gameplay additions that cover every aspect of real football. Central to PES 2012 is the all-new Active AI system which ensures that teammates work to close down space, defend zonally and hold their line to minimise attacking options. As such, as players defend, their colleagues will look to hold the defensive line and mark oncoming offensive support. Conversely, when attacking, the player will see that their teammates will make dummy runs, draw defenders, and work to give the player more options in attack.

Furthermore, the emphasis on the team as a unit is demonstrated with PES 2012’s ground-breaking Teammate Control system – a truly unique addition which allows the user to control two players at once, prompting runs or drawing defenders with one, while the other holds the ball up. Teammate Control works in two ways; with users pressing the right analogue stick in the direction of the player they wish to control. Support play is offered in Assisted mode wherein users prompt a second player to make a timed run to cut inside or receive a ball, while total control is afforded by the fully Manual mode which gives the user complete freedom of movement of the second player.

Elsewhere, PES 2012 is equally full of new additions. Animation has been enhanced, while the overall presentation has also been refined. Managers can now be seen wandering the touchline, while the general atmosphere of a big-match day has been faithfully recreated. In terms of gameplay, shooting movement and reactions are much improved, control is no longer totally lost when losing possession of the ball, a return to the classic ‘behind player’ penalty system, and one-on-one situations offer greater control as defenders press and jostle to win the ball, and attackers use upper body feints and movements to bypass and wrong-foot their man.

PES 2012 also continues KONAMI’s close relationship with UEFA that sees the PES series as the exclusive home of the UEFA Champions League™, UEFA Europa League™ and UEFA Super Cup™ video game licences. Attention to detail within these key tournaments has been extended to the match officials, and PES 2012 will see referees and their assistants now sporting the official UEFA Champions League™ uniforms.

A much loved and recently missing mode from the recent PES instalments has finally returned. I am sure you remember the Training Mode Challenges? Well its finally back.

Below is what Konami had to say in there press release -

All skills can also now be refined in the return of the much loved ‘Challenge Training’ mode. A hugely popular part of PES lore, Challenge Training gives the player a series of tough tests which they can use to hone various skills. The mode allows users to work hard on their attacking and defending skills to improve their main game. Similarly, there are dribbling tests and set-piece challenges that necessitate hitting a series of targets, and punishing shooting tasks are used to push the player as they put in the hours that will make all the difference on field.

Today Konami announced that after appearing on the front cover for PES 2009,10 and 11that Messi will no longer feature on the front cover but there will be a new star that suits the type of game Konami aim to create.

There maybe bugs you will see in the videos which you will more than likely find missing from later code and release. Prorevo Playtest PES 2012 Part 2

At the end of last week German PES blog Prorevo posted there impressions from there time spent with PES 2012. There were certain aspects that they were unable to talk about due to the videos being released today. Now that everything is out in the open they have posted there playtest impressions part 2 (Part1 Here).

In the first partof our report of testing an early version of PES 2012 we promised to blast youwith part 2. A real game changer. Now the embargo has ended and we want to tellyou about our impressions of two of the most important features of PES 2012. Toamplify the whole thing, Konami gave us some videos where Jon explains thechanges and which detail the improvements compared to PES 2011.

Active AI

The AI is thestep forward we were promised (and hoping for). The new system is called"Active AI" (Team vision, anyone?;-) ). Especially whenplaying the AI the new system really starts to shine. But the your team isacting cleverer as well. The Japanese development team focussed on this aspectof the game for a reason and their hard work pays off. We're going to describea few situations that highlight the changes of the AI in the game:

- Freekicks:The AI does not blast the ball desperately over the goal anymore, they crossthe ball intelligently into the 18 yards box. Those crosses are much more effectiveand pay off. In PES 2011, those free kicks all too often went wide, missingfriend and foe. Free kicks we caused by mistiming tackles always were veryeffective and dangerous.

- Attacking AI:All offensive moves of the AI are much more individual and varied. Here are afew examples for their moves:

-> The AI is attacking with wingers more often. If an attacker sees a weakspot at the side line, he will cut into the 18 yards area. In last year'sinstallment, he would have crossed the ball. All the time.

-> The AI is always looking for the best opportunity to score. In PES 2011,they fired their shots from every position, no matter how sharp the angle was.Now the ball is passed back in behind the defensive line, where another playercomes running and slots home easily. However, if a striker has enough space,about 20-25 meters before the goal, he'll unleash a screamer.

-> The AI uses more high passes into the path of the strikers and sendsplayers more often than last year.

-> Conclusion: The attacks vary and are difficult to defend. This variety ingameplay is especially welcome for offline modes and will boost the funimmensely.

- Defending AI:The AI acting as a team really does work hard together to stop danger. Theyhand over opposing players to better positioned team mates and adapt theirbehaviour to the particular players. Christiano Ronaldo is defended againstmuch tighter than a "regular" player. They attack the striker evenbefore he controls the ball and they'll fall back if the ball is crossed to theopposing side. It really looks and feels more professional.

- Your teammates:

A common problemin PES 2011 is the fact that players stop their run after they have passed theball. You can force players to continue to run with the one-two pass, though.But that's it. In this years version you have much more opportunities, asplayers are running on their own, without stopping or even walking back.Combine this with sprints of other strikers into gaps in the defense or withplayers creating space by drawing defenders away, and you have a whole bunch ofopportunities to shape your game. If the paths of players are finetuned a bit, this will be a huge step forward.

- Difficulty:

We couldonly play on "Professional" when we had time with the game. In PES2011, it was no real challenge to control and defeat your opponent on topplayer, at least for us. However, today we struggled to defeat Ghana withGermany. Maybe we have to get used to the new individuality and the freedom ofthe game but the second highest level of difficulty will challenge evenexperienced players when they play against a team of a similar strength.

Off the ballcontrol:

The biginnovation that we announced is the "Off-the-ball control". The rightanalogue stick is dedicated to this feature, and you can do beautiful thingswith it. The following examples will give a summary of this new system:

- Switchingplayers with the right stick:

Alongside the L1 trigger, you can now switchplayers with the right stick. This is more precise and avoids mistakes whenselecting players. But using L1 for thelast couple of years, this variant needs getting used to. Hence, we used L1most of the time. If you play with completely manual player switching, you can,when you're attacking, switch to another striker and dart into a gap in thedefense, waving your hand to call for the ball (as you can do in BaL). That'snothing new, basically, as you could already do this in PES 2011. However,using the right analogue stick lets you instantly switch to the player you wantto select, without mashing L1 ten times.

- Off-the-ball indead ball situations:

In dead ballsituations, this feature really starts to shine. You can shape these situationsmore distinct than ever. At first, your player is positioned behind the ball asyou know it from last year's game. As soon as you flick the right analoguestick, the camera angle changes and you can now select a specific player (mostprobably the one you want to use ;-) ) and move him around with the left stick.So you can set up opportunities to send your player, to feint or to dart intofree space, even before the ball is played. It works like a charm and makesyour play incalculable.

Here are someexamples:

- At a cornerkick I select the player at the near post and move him towards the player atthe corner. The defender follows suit because he expects a pass instead of across. Now I switch players again and select the one at the penatly spot andrun towards the near post. While the player is running, I press the circlebutton to cross the ball. The player's path towards the post - and the now vacant space - matches thecross and the striker hits the crossbar with a massive header. Unlucky, maybeI'll score next time.

- Long free kickfrom about 38 yards. Again, I'm spoilt for choice. I could run with a playertowards a post and volley the ball at the penalty spot. I could feint a runinto the middle and then turn towards the flank, bringing the high free kickunder control and cross it into the box, as well.

- Throw-in: Younow have more options for throw-ins as well because you can select the playeryou want. You can break away from the opponent, resulting in throw-ins that areharder to defend. Furthermore, you can throw the ball into the path of yourteam mate.

- Goal kick: Evenhere the right stick enables you to select the player where you want to playthe ball to. Gone are the times, when your opponent intercepted your kick off.

- Conclusion: Thesuccess of those situations depends on timing and the paths you run with theplayers. If you mistime the pass/cross or you play the ball predictably, thedefenders will catch the ball. Furthermore, the abilities of the players thattake the free kick/corner kick are very important to play the ball as exactlyas you want to. It's an immense enrichment for all dead ball situations andlets you create dangerous situations and suprise your opponent, without beingoverwhelmingly effective. The only let-down is the fact that we could not playa long (low) pass in the path of a player past the wall.

I am sure you will agree the difference is massive and the game looks to move fantastic but the real test is when you actually play it but with most impressions very positive at this stage im sure we are in for some game.

A Dream Come True

Itʼs 10.07 in the morning, the sky is a bit cloudy but itʼs warm. I stand in front of Konami of Europe HQ in
Frankfurt (Main). Itʼs some kind of a special moment for me. For years, I have envied magazines and
websites (like WENB) for getting early access to games and PES, especially. I wanted to be with them,
play with them, discuss the game. Today, Iʼm going to do the same. Iʼm here to play an early version of
PES 2012. Together with Marvin from prorevo, who has invited me. Itʼs a dream that has come true. But
enough sentiments, letʼs plunge into work (or should I say fun?).

Who Moved For Motion?

I was honoured with the role of the spectator in the ﬁrst match as Marvin played against a Konami
employee. First thing that struck me was the motion on the pitch even before the playersʼ entrance. A
few groundsmen were walking over the ﬁeld and checked the grass. A few moments later, the view
switched and you see the referees talking a bit, before they led the players out of the catacombs.
Camera men, stewards, managers, all moving and looking great. They didnʼt stop to move when the
match started, no, you could see the managers walking up and down in the coaching area, the cameras
tried to follow the ball, the stewards walked along the boundaries of the ﬁeld and the stewards were
looking back onto the pitch from time to time; they normally look at the crowd. Just as they do in real
life. Nice touch with regards to the crowd: they wore the kits of the home team, looked really cool.
Moving to the on-the-ﬁeld-event. There were many new animations for sliding, passing and shooting
but for little things as well. For instance, when another defender was going to cover another attacker, he
waved to his team mates that heʼd take over from them. If a player realised, that he would not reach the
ball with a kick, he pulled back. Wow. Oh, and when we played with national teams, volunteers were
standing/sitting next to the teams, holding the particular national banner.
Altogether, very eMOTIONal.

Can You Keep Up?

I think, that could have been the phrase Christiano Ronaldo said to Badstuber when he ran past him.
Badstuber couldnʼt. Germany conceded a goal. Doesnʼt sound like PES 2011, does it? Well, it isnʼt.
PES 2012 manages to balance those two aspects, attacking and defending, that represent the core of
football. Attackers can outsmart defenders and vice versa. Take that example from above. Ronaldo kept
the ball close to his feet, fooled the defender by shifting to the left and passed him by on the other side.
With no one left to block him, he could even outran Badstuber by a few meters and had enough time to
place his shot. Would you like an example to prove the opposite? Marvin played against me with Messi.
Messi went missing for 90 minutes. Say no more.
The keepers keep you well in play, rest assured. They seemed to be more aggressive at corner kicks or
free kicks and plucked the ball out of the air. They were more reliable and overall good. In 25 matches
we had maybe one situation where we thought the keeper could have kept that ball.

Thatʼs Not Fair!

Erm, it is. Why? Because the referee said so. And he was always right.
You can say that refereeʼs are ﬁxed and much better than last year. Neither did they shed cards nor
were they mean when it came to yellow-/red-carding. They acted just… right. We never felt as if we
were betrayed by the referee.
It was the same with offside. We had maybe three or four off side situations and they were all correct.
At one point, Marvin stopped to play because he thought my player to be offside. However, the referee
was right again. Too bad I missed my shot.
A word (or two) concerning penalty kicks. As Adam already said, the camera is back to normal, behind
the player who earned the penalty kick. It works, and it works great. It is fair.

Thatʼs What I Call Intelligence.

I wonʼt go into detail here about player behaviour. Not yet, as I canʼt at the moment. But I will tell you
about that loss I tweeted earlier. The glorious 1-4 defeat. Yes, I lost against a lower rated team and I
loved it. In PES 2011, if a player was near your goal, he tried to shoot, most of the time. In PES 2012, it
is completely different. It feels alive. Letʼs go:
0 – 1: Counter attack by my opponent, four defenders, three attackers, one in the middle, one on each
side. I closed the center striker down and expected him to shoot. However, he played a high deadly
pass to the left winger who slowed down the ball, took a short look and played a precise cross to the
right outer corner of my box. To the right winger, of course, who then hit home volley. I was like:
ʻawwwwʼ (eyes wide open).
0 – 2: Mistake by myself, I passed the ball to an attacker instead of kicking it away. He outsmarted my
keeper! He feinted a shot, moved the ball out my keepers reach, ran a few yards and scored.
0 – 3: The best goal today. An attacker got the ball in my 18 yard area. However, he didnʼt shoot
instantly – what he would have done in PES 2011 – but laid the ball back for an attacker that was in a
much better position to shoot – and to score, of course. He lifted his foot and played the ball with so
much silkiness that I lowered the controller and stopped playing. My mouth copied the behaviour of my
eyes. I think I replayed it 4 times? Needless to say that I had none but one chance to score in the ﬁrst
70 minutes – I hit the post.
0 – 4: Nice header after I mistimed the header of my defender. Timing is extremely important in this
game. Not once did I have the feeling that the CPU cheated me. I always mistimed actions. And I knew
that I failed.
1 – 4: 88 minute, regular goal, nothing special. Of course not, as it was I who scored.
Whew!

I played that match with wide cam because this pitch side cam takes time to get used to. Furthermore, I
used the “completely manual” setting for passes which was complicated enough. About an hour before
we left, I tried to combine this setting with the new cam. Looks great, plays great, I got smashed. By the
gameplay, by the AI.

So is it the perfect package?

Sadly, it isnʼt. Two things are spoiling the party, at least a bit. One thing is shooting but thatʼs covered by
Adamʼs essay already.
The other thing is a bit weird to explain. When you pass the ball to or behind a team mate (deadly
pass), that player runs towards the ball and then, all of a sudden, slows down and jogs towards the ball.
Meanwhile, an opponent might run there and steal you the ball. It doesnʼt happen all the time, but
worryingly often. Something I will need to see how it changes through development.

Oliver from PESKings.net (Spanish) held a interview with one of the best players of PES in Spain Isra_21. He will play the Spanish National Final that will be held in the Bernabeu, So we want to know his impressions about that tournament and of course, his opinion about the PES Series.

Hello Isra_21, could you introduce yourself a little to the followers of PESKings?

Hi, my name is Israel Martinez, I am 24 years old I'm from Almansa (Albacete). I'm a pretty simple guy, a friend of my friends and for hobbies I like taking part in sports like football, tennis, paddle tennis and I also enjoy travelling.

How long you been playing PES?

I've been playing since I was a little one when we had ISS, I use to play with my brothers, but officially since last year when I started "important" competitions and made a great friend Marlito, I got more into the full game.

What game in the series is your favourite and why?

For me the most complete experience has to be PES 6, it was a great game with great Gameplay, and a very well done complete online mode.

What makes PES your choice over other football games on the market?

Simple, PES is more realistic in all aspects, Gameplay, fun, entertainment, attacking, compared with FIFA which is much more predictable.

From what we have seen so far what do you think of PES 2012?

This question is very good, because every year I think the same, it will be better than the last, sometimes unfortunately that is not always the case, From my point of view, I would leave this game like it is, and give it small tweaks and new things to add more reality to the game, from what little I've seen, it seems that the AI is much improved, and the movements are meaningful, but of course then when you play and take some time, will emerge the "real" things.

What do you think of PES 2011?

With PES6 I think it's the best I have played, in my view, it is a game of touch, with many new arrivals, good gameplay, but with errors, and looks like a game that is only "half done" hopefully PES 2012 will be the ULTIMATE GAME for the good of all.

What improvements would you like to see in the PES series?

I'd like it that when after some time of playing, it continues to amaze me. Improve on the online mode and give more realism to the keepers. Dribbling more virtuous and it could acquire all the licenses of the teams.

You have already entered in PESLEAGUE (PES official tournament), we are aware that last season you played the National Final, how did you access?

As I was unaware of its existence since I played PES on PC. I went to a tournament in person, in which I did not pass the group stages, and from there it all began. The first thing I did was buy a PS3, and the first online tournament I competed in was PESLeague. I managed to win, then a runner up and a semi-finalist, I qualified for my territory competition online, as no2 as in person at tournaments I didn't have good performances, the best was a 4th place in Sagunto.

We know that in early season group stages you failed to progress in person, what made you so much better finishing third in the National Final?

It is clear that although I lost, I learned a lot from these defeats, and no matter if you fall, what matters is rising, provide your best release slowly and consistently and always play against the best, so I could get a good level to compete with so many people level.

We understand that you will play in this year's National Final to be played in the Bernabeu, what do you see your chances of winning?

Whenever you are in that select group, you have possibilities, but it is very difficult because they are the 32 best players in Spain, and as we most need to "take the day", however my intention is to win, as in every tournament that I've played, if I think about losing, just not go, although it is an achievement to be there with the best.

How did you reach the final, for items online or in person tournaments?

This year on both sides (lol). I'm the first of the Eastern Territory, and second of online territory, with which both sides and I am satisfied that both the level is incredible.

How will you prepare for the tournament, increasing the hours of play before you go? Do you prepare in any special way?

Yes, I will increment hours of play, and play with people known, who go to the final too, to give it my best and get the best possible performance. And that is the way, maybe some left to play in Offline and little else.

You are one of the best, but which opponent is for you to beat this season in the National Final?

For me this year, there is a high level, but as usual favorites are the champions of Spain last year (Smolldinho), and his brother Superdinho (2 time champion of Spain and runner-up in Europe), then there is a list where all of my clan, they can win, the level is very even, I sincerely believe that this year, one of our clan will rise to victory.

Without giving to much detail to your opponents, how do you describe your way of playing in PES 2011? Tactics depending on how you prepare to play the rival, or already have predetermined ideas and change just depends on how's the score? Did you have to go changing a lot until you find the current level?

My style is based on ball possession, pressure to quickly recover the ball and like to play attack; I do not like speculating with the result. I have my own style, not usually change to play against who you play, but of course depends on how the game is obvious, to do one thing or other, if I'm losing, and I have to win, try to put 4 front and 2 midfielders and if I win and the opponent is hard, because I backed down depending on how much remains, if any expelled ... And as if I've changed, because the truth is not, the tactics are the same as when I started playing this year, almost unchanged.

We understand that you play representing a multi squad called "Dementes Gaming", Can you comment on this? You are the captain, but what other colleagues have?

Well it is true, we raised the idea and our whole team agreed to it very willingly, they help us in what they can, and we try to get good results, for the moment, we cannot complain. The colleagues are: Marlito, Raven, Pabloartista, Erkobra, Scorp1nho, Jimeninho, Balagol, and a server.

Do you know other multisquads in Spain?

Almost all are foreign, MOUZ, DA-GAMING, the Spanish multisquads not bet on Pro Evolution Soccer because the community is dying, from the Online is not playable.

Sorry for the question. There are rumours that you and your colleagues of clan “Dementes Gaming” has been questioned for lack of sportsmanship and when one of you is already in high positions and comfortable, is left to lose when he plays with a colleague of clan, What do you have to say about these rumours?

In this question I will say what I think and I will not bite the tongue, both my peers and I are tired of these.

* 1 each is in the position that he deserves and merits.

* 2 if there is any proof of that take it out.

* 3 neither I nor my colleagues, have to justify more, we laugh totally false insinuations.

* And finally, to say that envy is very bad and they look that have done badly, to not be in our positions.

Another question, another rumour. A colleague, "Scorp1nho" of your clan, we understand that you do not know all the clan least this one, nor have you seen his photograph, Can you shed some light on this?

(lol) True, I know him and talk to every day, but it is true that I have not ever seen or how he is, we, the clan, believe that he is CR7 (lol).

How about taking the season at the level of tournaments won both individual and clan? What about the prizes?

For individual, I've won 3 tournaments in Lan (Alicante, Murcia and Novelda) with prizes, 250 €, 120 € and 120 € and a PSP, get 3rd in Alicante, and Online I won the Christmas Tournament and several runners-up.

Changing the subject a bit to finish the interview. We understand that you are a boys football coach, what team? Does it help you live the real football that way to be better in PES?

When preparing tactics, for example I'm a coach of C.D.B. Castillo Almansa - Sportman, junior class, children 12 and 13, they have had a great season and now we have a few summer tournaments. I live football because it is the sport that I like and my passion since I was little, in terms of the real, it hasn't nothing to do with the virtual, it doesn't help.

Today WENB were lucky enough to get there hands on the latest code of PES 2012. Suff and Adam have been tweeting through out the day with there impressions on the game is shaping up.

- Deeper tactics and strategy options in-game due to them being mapped to d-pad
- All teams behave uniquely, with a greater emphasis on team play individuality
- Graphics improved in gameplay cam, although needs some more work to achieve preferred levels
- Match atmosphere greatly enhanced thanks to presence of managers, camera-men and groundstaff
- Fans now wearing kits
- New camera angle added called pitch side, which hangs lower from the side line. A favourite on the day
- New reworked ball physics
- More care needs to be taken when passing and controlling, as ball behaves independently and realistically
- Goal Keepers vastly improved. New animations and more reliable
- Referees vastly improved. Play advantage, and book after a play has stopped
- Gameplay more fluid than before, instant response times when dribbling and controlling the ball
- Animations more varied in passing and shooting, although not on FIFA levels

D-Pad Returns.... Already

Was you disappointed by the announcement that D-Pad had been removed from PES 2012? (See our article from last week)

Well we are happy to inform you that D-Pad is back as confirmed by Jon Murphy this afternoon. Analogue will be set to be the control for movement by default but you will be able to change the controls to suit you.

I would highly recommend that you all give using analogue a go and also give it a few days to get use to. You will begin to see the difference and how it can improve the game so much. I made the change from 2010 to 2011 and at first it was difficult but now I would not dream of using D-Pad.

D-Pad Is No More

Do you still use D-Pad when playing PES? You may want to look away now.

D-Pad will no longer be a option to control your players movement in PES 2012, you can now only use the analogue stick. The D-Pad will now be used to change tactics during the game.

I changed to the Analogue stick towards the end of PES 2010 and beginning of PES 2011. You will just need to give it a little time to get use to but it will soon feel right and you will find a new way to experience PES 2012.
